世界的に異常気象のようです。この先、地球環境はどうなるのでしょう。自然は容赦ありません。
美しく儚い虹が、まるで破壊光線のごとくアメリカ西海岸を襲い、死傷者が続出…という嘘ニュースです。アメリカ史上最大と言われるスーパーレインボーとは？
breaking news はよく聞く言葉なんですが、これは「ニュース速報」のこと。

ニュースなのでわりとカタい単語が使われてます。虹は「パーシバル」という名のよう。reel は「（体が）ふらふらする」「よろめいて動く」、比ゆ的に「ショックを受けたり気が動転する」。
「～で気が動転する」の意味では、reel の後に、from / at / with といった前置詞が続きます。

on the heels of（～の踵を踏む）というのは、それだけ近い距離感を意味します。hot on the heel については、狩猟用語に由来しているそう。hot は興奮して活発になった様子を表すとか。
